I am an Assistant Professor of Education Leadership and Policy Studies at Florida State University. I use tools in applied microeconomics to study education policy with a focus on career and technical education, community colleges, and workforce development. I recently served as a Research Fellow within the inaugural Office of the Chief Economist at U.S. Department of Education. I received my PhD in Education Policy from Vanderbilt University and Ed.M. in Education Policy and Management from Harvard University. I have Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Applied Statistics from the University of California, Davis, where I transferred through the California Community College System.
Before my career in academia, I worked as a higher education consultant at Entangled Solutions, and was a Research Analyst at the Research Alliance for NYC Schools. Hailing from a large extended family of nurses, teachers, cosmetologists and contractors in California, I grew up on the move across the Bay Area. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor adventures with my partner, making amateur pottery, and receiving pictures of my brother's dog who lives in Oregon.
